Sacmi at the helm of Emilia-Romagna research

Working to ensure that research is compatible with corporate needs. This, then, is the aim of “phase two” of the High-Tech Regional Network, intended to lead to the establishment of ‘integrated technical research districts’.

To achieve that goal, Aster – the consortium that unites regional authorities, research facilities and the business world in Emilia-Romagna – has given Sacmi a pivotal role on the technological platform coordination committees, which bring together all the university and national research body laboratories of Emilia-Romagna.

In particular, Sacmi will be working on the platform dedicated to mechanics and materials, the purpose being to guide research and technology transfer activities in a sector crucial to the future of the regional economy.

The aim of Aster – which green-lighted the project during the last general assembly – is to begin with key players of the regional production system and then open up platforms and labs to participation from other companies. A dual result is expected: to put companies in a position to use high-level services – in line with those European regions with the most advanced research and innovation – and to direct such services themselves according to the needs expressed by industry.
