A member company of the Great Wall Group, Charu Ceramics Bangladesh - founded in collaboration with Cotto Thailand with the aim of taking up a position in the high-end segment and exporting significant amounts of output - recently tested and started up a new Gaiotto robotized glazing carousel.
The robotized glazing island - part of the initial stage of the WC glazing project - plays an essential role in ensuring high-quality glaze application. Such quality is a must when it comes to competing on international markets at levels consistent with the output of the SSI Group which, in Thailand, uses the same SACMI-supplied technology in the form of numerous islands of the same type.
This order has been prepared with the utmost care according to the specific requests of Great Wall, which has always placed great emphasis on final product quality. It consists of a 4-position carousel operating in conjunction with a GA 2000 glazing robot which, in turn, mounts the Gaiotto GDA 80 spray gun (which can be tilted 90°).
This gun is needleless and therefore has none of the problems associated with the needle itself or fouling. It has revolutionised the spraying system, eliminating the need for maintenance and reducing the high cost of traditional spray guns while boosting both spraying performance and application consistency.
The curtain glazing booth allows for retrieval of excess glaze and thus lowers running costs.
The output capacity of this initial stage of the project, which includes three Riedhammer kilns (two 5-car HWS PF 7.5/500/1.9 kilns and a TWS 90/360/80 tunnel kiln) is 750,000 pcs/year. However, a doubling of that capacity is already in the pipeline and annual output will soon reach and exceed 1.5 million pieces.
With this order the Great Wall Group, a long-standing SACMI Group customer and one of the country's biggest tile manufacturers, extends its partnership with SACMI into the sanitaryware sector.
