Sacmi, complete line for Volgogradskij Keramicheskij Zavod (Russia)

Founded in 1959 in the city of Volgograd and a pivotal Russian player on the high quality ceramic scene, Volgogradskij Keramicheskij Zavod has now chosen Sacmi to supply a complete line for the manufacture of technical and glazed porcelain tiles in the 600x600 and 600x1200 mm formats.

The order includes a Sacmi MMC 074 modular continuous mill, operating alongside an ATM 65 spray drier. Additionally, Sacmi will provide the slip colouring system and a PH 6500 Imola Series press; with a maximum pressing force of 64,000 kN and an inter-column clearance of 2,450 mm, the latter is ideal for manufacturing large tiles.

For the drying department, the customer has gone for the new ECP 285, the Sacmi-built 19.7-metre 5-tier horizontal drier. A 12.6-metre JMS 295 pre-kiln drier feeds the material into the single-layer Sacmi FMS 295 roller kiln, which features all the latest heat recovery systems (XTR).

Meticulously attentive to design and the development of new high-end product lines, this Volgograd-based firm has also selected the wet digital decoration solutions developed by Sacmi Digital. More specifically, the supply includes an Intesa DHD 708 digital printer (with 8 colour bars and 10 Xaar print heads); the latter belongs to a new generation of Sacmi ink-jet machines for the application of inks and glazes that allows to maximises the aesthetic potential of the product.

Thanks to this new Sacmi line - expected to be up and running by September 2018 - Volgograndskij Keramicheskij Zavod will soon be manufacturing up to 7,400 m2 a day of technical, glazed tiles (600x600), confirming its status as one of the area's most dynamic enterprises in terms of innovativeness, design and output quality.
