Sacmi patents now number 693!

To safeguard its wealth of expertise and the results of its technological development programs, Sacmi has deposited 970 patents: 693 of these were valid in 2003. Last year alone, the Imola-based cooperative deposited 127 new patents, a significant increase on the 92 deposited in 2002 and the 63 in 2001. Patent-protected technology is just one indicator of how important innovation and development is to the company: placing a clear emphasis on R&D has been a key factor in Sacmi’s achievement of international leadership status.
The Sacmi R&D Center employs 130 researchers and technicians. Last year they worked on 12 different projects for a total of 840 man-months (70 man-months per project). In 2003 Sacmi invested € 8 million in R&D.
