New Gaiotto GA2000 glazing robot - a standard-setter in the industry – installed in Akuressa, in the south of Sri Lanka, overlooking the Nilwala River. This continues the all-round partnership with SACMI, part of a broader plan to develop and expand the local sanitaryware industry.
Deluxe Bathware, Sri Lanka's leading sanitaryware manufacturer, keeps on growing with SACMI. Now, a next-gen glazing robot is heading for Akuressa - where the third plant “Nilwala Ceramic Village” was recently inaugurated - marking the last stage of a process that has seen SACMI partner with Delux Bathware for all key technologies, from casting to firing. Outstanding quality and process repeatability, great ergonomics and environment-friendliness are the hallmarks of this Gaiotto solution, which continues to set the market standard.
In practice, Deluxe Bathware is taking delivery of nothing less than a complete system that spans from the glazing booth to the 4-position carousel that feeds the items to the robot, which has 8 (6+2) axes. The booth features a water curtain filter for glaze recovery and a large extractor fan (capacity 13,000 m³ per hour) to ensure a healthy workplace. Simultaneously, it also allows recovery of excess glaze in optimal condition.
Like all SACMI-Gaiotto RobotGlaze solutions, this robot features the Mass Control™ system to optimize glaze trajectories, ensuring optimal glaze uniformity and reducing overspray. Delux Bathware has also chosen the new SACMI GDA80 spray gun, the market leader in terms of performance, reliability, and zero maintenance.
This project continues the all-round partnership between SACMI and Davora Capital - which, in addition to the three sanitaryware factories, also operates in other sectors such as hydro power generation and Ceylon tea production - in keeping with the vision of Davora Capital’s founder, Nishantha Nanayakkara. His aim: to take national manufacturing to new levels of excellence and provide local communities with new employment and development opportunities.
